Go Green

In observance of Earth Day and the new desire to go green, we decided to put on a little green ourselves. It's not quite the same as what the real meaning of "going green" is, but it's our way to remind us all to be a little more conscious of what we're doing. You can do things as simple as turning off lights that aren't needed, setting up recycling in your home, and finding new ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Check out ways to up-cycle. Up-cycling is when you find a more useful way to use something than the original intent. Make an effort every day and change the way you look at what you do.

Our History

We are currently looking to add our history page back to the website. It will be located on the Alumni section of the website and should be up shortly after WGI Championships weekend. I am looking for pictures, stories, scores, and any information from our Alumni that you'd like to see on our website. Please send all information about the history of our guards to our Alumni@art101online.com email.

In Remembrance of Ray Boggs

The staff and members of ART101, Southwest Ind and Inertia percussion  send our condolences to the members and staff of Collage Color Guard with the passing of their director Ray Boggs.  He was a true friend to us and we will miss him greatly.

Art101 Returns

Central Ohio Winter Color Guard and Percussion is pleased to announce the return of Art101 to active competition for the 2008 season!

2008 will be the seventeenth season of Independent competition for Art101, where they will perform in Winter Guard International (WGI) and Mid-East Performance Association (MEPA) events, as well as compete in the newly-formed Ohio Indoor Performance Association (OIPA).

"We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of positive support from our alumni and veteran members by this announcement," says Kriss Davis, Executive Director of Central Ohio Winter Color Guard and Percussion. "We could not be more pleased with the response and simply cannot wait for auditions and the season to begin, and we look forward to the return of Art101 to the competitive arena."

Creative Staff

Central Ohio Winter Color Guards is also pleased to welcome Michael Lentz from Onyx World Color Guard to the creative staff for the 2008 season, as well as several other Open and World class instructors who will work with Art101 and the rest of the Central Ohio Winter Color Guard and Percussion family.

Intertia Updates

Inertia Percussion placed first at the OIPA Contest at the Nutter Center at Wright State University in Dayton, in their first show of the season! The drumline won High Visual and High General Effect and had a total score of 69.1, which is a pretty solid foundation score for this point of the season.

To the members of the group, from the point of view of someone WAY too old to march (hahahahaha), I would like to say that you all were BY FAR (stress that part) the most professional looking drumline there at the contest. We, as a group still have a LONG way to go, but we have a GREAT foundation to start with.

We would like to thank the parents who helped get us out on the road this morning for our first contest, and especially the help of Lance and Renata Thompson, Gerald and Deb Mosko, and all of the members of ART101 and Southwest Independent for helping us not only get to the show site, but to help us to and from the performance floor.

A special thank-you goes to Holly Good, who out of the kindness of her heart (and thankfully she had no plans last night!) sized the uniform pants for almost all of the members during practice, and then hemmed more than half of the pairs of uniform pants overnight for the drumline members. Please give her a big thank-you when you get a chance, because that made a HUGE difference in how organized and professional we looked as a group, to which we have already received many compliments from people outside of the group about how good we look. Thank you a ton, Holly! If I would have done that myself, the members would have staples, duct tape, or paper clips on their uniform pant legs...

A very good start, a lot of work to do yet, but the potential for something big is already apparent!

Great work!
