We had class and style throughout the weekend. The show had it's moments of awe and excitement mixed in with tears of joy and sorrow. Our prelims show wasn't the best, but it banked us a third place position with a score of 83.2 and a great chance to shine once again. While up against a tough group of competitors in semi-finals we had possibly the most beautiful show of our season placing us in a tie for fourth place in semi-finals with a score of 85.2. In the end it wasn't enough to get us into finals, but it did give us a great way to end the season. A small guard from Columbus, Ohio that started the season out rough can come back to emote a beautiful show and gain respect as a great guard. Or final position is a 3-way tie for 17th in the world in Independent A Winter Guards.
The time has come to start thinking about our annual Banquet on May 2nd. We take a moment to recognize the casts, staff, and family and friends that made this year happen. Be sure to reserve your spot, pay your dues, and enjoy the night at Der Dutchman; for this is the last time we will ever come together as this group. Next year will be a different group. This group can never be replicated. Make memories.
In observance of Earth Day and the new desire to go green, we decided to put on a little green ourselves. It's not quite the same as what the real meaning of "going green" is, but it's our way to remind us all to be a little more conscious of what we're doing. You can do things as simple as turning off lights that aren't needed, setting up recycling in your home, and finding new ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Check out ways to up-cycle. Up-cycling is when you find a more useful way to use something than the original intent. Make an effort every day and change the way you look at what you do.
The staff and members of ART101, Southwest Ind and Inertia percussion send our condolences to the members and staff of Collage Color Guard with the passing of their director Ray Boggs. He was a true friend to us and we will miss him greatly.
We are currently looking to add our history page back to the website. It will be located on the Alumni section of the website and should be up shortly after WGI Championships weekend. I am looking for pictures, stories, scores, and any information from our Alumni that you'd like to see on our website. Please send all information about the history of our guards to our Alumni@art101online.com email.
