Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I have to do to become an INERTIA member?
A: Attend the auditions in early November.
Become familiar with the expectations of INERTIA at the workshop and through the
exercises and technique information. The staff will choose the members based on
skill, preparedness, positive attitude, and willingness to be a member of a
team.
Q: How much are the 2008 membership fees?
A: Fee structure will be announced in October.
Q: Can I participate in fundraisers to offset membership fees?
A: Absolutely. INERTIA will be participating in several fundraisers that
involve selling a product such as popcorn that a percentage of what you sell
will be credited toward your membership fees. In addition, all member units in
Central Ohio Winter Color Guard and Percussion will operate concession stands at
Ohio State athletic events and concerts. Both you and family members can work at
the Ohio State events, and you will receive the credit for what they earn.
Fundraising is the easiest way to offset membership fees, and it is possible to
raise enough money to cover your fees entirely.
Q: Can I get my parents or family members involved with INERTIA?
A: Yes. In fact, we cannot successfully operate without the help of
parents or other family members. If they wish to volunteer, please check out
our volunteer opportunities.
Q: When does INERTIA rehearse and compete?
A: We rehearse on Saturdays and/or Sundays in Westerville, Ohio. There will
be no weekday rehearsals. Performances will take place on Saturdays and/or
Sundays.
Q: What is the INERTIA travel schedule like?
A: All of INERTIA's performances are in the
state of Ohio. In fact, with the exception of one contest, all performances are
within one hour of Columbus.
Q: I have heard there will be a solo and ensemble opportunity. Is this true?
A: Yes. The Ohio Indoor Performance Association (OIPA) will be holding an
Individual and Ensemble contest at selected events in which interested members
may participate. Contestants must do a solo or ensemble at least once during the
regular season to be eligible to participate in the Individual and Ensemble
Championships at the OIPA Championships on Saturday, March 8, 2008. |
