Update! February 9, 2008
Inertia Percussion placed first at the OIPA Contest at the Nutter Center at Wright State University in Dayton, in their first show of the season! The drumline won High Visual and High General Effect and had a total score of 69.1, which is a pretty solid foundation score for this point of the season.
To the members of the group, from the point of view of someone WAY too old to march (hahahahaha), I would like to say that you all were BY FAR (stress that part) the most professional looking drumline there at the contest. We, as a group still have a LONG way to go, but we have a GREAT foundation to start with.
We would like to thank the parents who helped get us out on the road this morning for our first contest, and especially the help of Lance and Renata Thompson, Gerald and Deb Mosko, and all of the members of ART101 and Southwest Independent for helping us not only get to the show site, but to help us to and from the performance floor.
A special thank-you goes to Holly Good, who out of the kindness of her heart (and thankfully she had no plans last night!) sized the uniform pants for almost all of the members during practice, and then hemmed more than half of the pairs of uniform pants overnight for the drumline members. Please give her a big thank-you when you get a chance, because that made a HUGE difference in how organized and professional we looked as a group, to which we have already received many compliments from people outside of the group about how good we look. Thank you a ton, Holly! If I would have done that myself, the members would have staples, duct tape, or paper clips on their uniform pant legs...
A very good start, a lot of work to do yet, but the potential for something big is already apparent!
Great work!
